    Default SCO & Samba passwords

I'll try and keep this quick and simple.
Running OpenServer 5.0.6 and Samba 2.2.8a.
Our users access the server via telnet for our app and samba for their
file/print. Samba running PDC emulation. All good.
People up on high have asked us to enforce password changes every X days on
    the SCO accounts.
Easily done in SCO, bitch of a thing in Samba since we are using encrypted
    passwords.
From what I can see, I have a couple of choices.

    1) Let the SCO and samba accounts get out of sync. Not preferred.
    2) Switch off encrypted passwords. Not too bad a solution except for the
fact I will need to touch several hundred desktops. Blerk.
    3) Some how make SCO, when a user is changing their password, also change
the smbpasswd entry for the user. Mucho preferred.

Is the 3rd option even remotely possible under SCO?
Anyone else run into this situation and care to offer a solution?

    cheers
