SCO Merge 5.3 Update now available
If you're not a regular reader of newly posted TA's, you
might have missed that there's an updated version of
SCO Merge (5.3.23) available at www.sco.com/download
for Openserver 5.0.6 and 5.0.7.
The update installs directly over the current version (5.3.7)
and corrects numerous bugs and one security issue, all of
which are documented in the associated readme files. The
kernel is relinked during installation, so a reboot is required.

Transpower is a strange name. What do your friends call you?

But I don't think that's going to solve your problem of not being able to
install Win98.
Check the Merge release notes to make sure you're using the correct Win98
CD.
Login as root, run X-Windows, run Merge Tools-->Merge Setup-->
System-Wide Administration-->Load Windows CD.
This will copy the Win98 CD contents to your hard disk for individual
installation
by non-root users.
Login as an ordinary user, run X-Windows, run Merge Tools-->Merge Setup-->
Personal Windows Setup.
From your other post, it sounded like you were trying to setup Windows from
an ordinary command line. You need to be in the X environment, and you need
to run the correct installation command. (The commands have changed with
the newer versions of Merge, even though the old commands still exist.)

Re: SCO Merge 5.3 Update now available
Thanks. I located the supplement at
http://www2.caldera.com/download_files/037-000-033DL/osr5_merge5323
The release notes are 25 pages long! There was a syntax error in
installwindows.sh.

Besides, it's in CPIO format and will not download properly to a file using
AOL. Is there another way to FTP this file?
