    Default scratch disk question

what is the scratch disk and what should I set it at? edit > preferences > plug-ins and scratch disks

my primary is set at start up - options: start up, C and F drive
secondary is set at none - options: C and F drive

What is it best to set these at? I also have other graphics including 3D programs that I don't want performance affected by changes? Any help would be great

    Default Re: scratch disk question

    Brandon,

Scratch disks work most efficiently when set to a drive other than the drive
that holds the system pagefile, so if your pagefile is on the c:\ drive then
there may be some advantage to setting the primary scratch to F:\ PROVIDED
that your F:\ drive is not a considerably slower drive than the c:\ drive
AND it has plenty of free space on it.

'Startup' refers to the system startup drive which is normally c:\
