Search speed in Acrobat 8
Greetings to the group:
I recently installed Acrobat 8 on my G4 1 ghz Powerbook, 768 MB RAM. I
have been using Acrobat 6 until now.
I am doing a large project which involves mainly searching for specific
words and phrases (biogeoclimatic zones). A search for a given zone in
Acrobat 6 took me 15 seconds (it is searching through multiple PDFs).
The same search using Acrobat 8 takes 4 minutes and 30 seconds,
rendering it virtually useless to me.
And ideas on speeding up the Acrobat 8 search function, aside from
upgrading my hardware? I do understand that more recent software makes
more demands on hardware, naturally, however, the search function is
something that I would think would not take any more horsepower than
before, as it seems identical, no additional features that I can see.
Sorry if this has been discussed, but I can't search the archives as I
don't access this forum from a web browser.
Thanks in advance.
