My B50 has one disk in hot swap bay reported as
hdisk0 Available 10-80-00-2,0 16 Bit LVD SCSI Disk Drive

and the adapter is
scsi0 Available 10-80 Wide/Fast-20 SCSI I/O Controller

From Smit I know that the adapter is setted in sigle ended mode :
SCSI bus transceiver alternative Single_Ended

but the already installed drive has no jumper put in "force single
ended mode " location.

The actual drive is an IBM Ultrastar 36LP 9 GB Ultra 160 SCSI LVD/SE
mod 309170, and the new one would be the same, but 18 GB.
I would install it internally, because I don't have a second hot-swap
container, but my problem is this : must I force single ended mode on
new drive or not ? Is there any way to know how is actyally setted the
scsi chain ?
Is there any Risk of damage if I connect the new drive in the wrong
way ?

Thanks in advance
Fulvio
