I live in Chattanooga, TN so I'm not far from you (less than 100
    miles). I'm no expert with PHP/MySQL but I've been a .NET/MSSQL
developer for years. Including sprocs, etc.
I'd be glad to offer some suggestions or help any way I can (within
    reason, of course).

    Some suggestions I have immediately:

    1) Sounds like you are more of a designer than programmer, why not use
a CMS system like Drupal? Then you don't have to worry about PHP.

    2) If you want to code, why not try some frameworks? Look into
CakePHP, Ruby on Rails, or Python.

    3) If you want to be more hard-core, then books are your friend.
