    Default Segmentation Fault

    New to Solaris, tried typing

    java -version

    and got a segmentation fault.

Does anybody have any ideas as to how to track this down ?

    Thanks in advance

    Rob

It sounds like your java packages might be broken. Start with running
pkgchk SUNWjrvt [JavaVM runtime environment] (you can do a man to decide
which options are best for you) on the java packages loaded on your system.
You can find out which java packages you have by running the pkginfo |
    grep -i java command.

    Thanks
    Jim

Thanks Jim, I'll give that a go.

Is there anyway of getting anything more meaningful from a core dump ?

    Thanks in advance again
