In illustrator 9 & 10, If i choose a font that font does not display or i will get another font instead and I've tried to type in the fonts manually and still get the same result. Does anyone out there know of a solution to this problem?

I have seen this symptom before... here's how it worked:

A font was damaged. It was open, but it did not show up in the font menu. Here's the long way of how to find it...

Select some text. Go to the font menu and change the text to each font starting from Z and working your way back to A. Stop when the font displays correctly.

The very next font is the damaged one. NOT the very next font in the font menu, but the very next font in your font management application. You may also note that it's "open" but is not available in the font menu.

Or maybe you have a different problem altogether. ;)
