Selecting objects!
I can't select a heading and a text also in a publication. Can't select, nor edit.
Do you know what it is?
Using CS!
Thanks

Re: Selecting objects!
Try this:
* Press Ctrl-A.
* Press Ctrl-Alt-L.
If that works, the heading was locked.
If it doesn't work, it could be that the heading and text are on a master page, and you have to hold down "Ctrl-Shift" when you select that to change the text.

Re: Selecting objects!
No, it does not work. Some texts can be edited, but the others not. I can't either select it. Sure that there is no error!

Re: Selecting objects!
Did you try pressing down Ctrl and Shift, then clicking on the object?
If that doesn't work, then you could have that text and heading on a Layer that could be locked. Go to your layers palette, and check to make sure that there isn't a pencil with a line through it on one of your layers. That would signify that layer is locked. To unlock it, just click that pencil icon again.
Dumb question: You are opening a InDesign document (.indd) right? If this is a .pdf, you couldn't edit it in InDesign.
Is the heading or text part of an image? (.tif, .jpg, .psd... it doesn't really matter) If it isn't actual text in InDesign, you won't be able to edit it then, either.
If none of that helps, you are going to have to describe your problem in more detail.

Re: Selecting objects!
No, it does not help. Can it be because of a missing font?
But I think it can't be of this.
Thanks

Re: Selecting objects!
You should be able to edit a missing font... but it won't look right anyway. Is the text highlighted in Pink?
I'm out of ideas on why you can't select text. Anyone else?
I suppose you could try resetting your preferences by holding down "Ctrl-Alt-Shift" when you start up InDesign, but I doubt that would help.

Re: Selecting objects!
Yes, the heading is highlighted in pink.
I'll try. If I find how to do it, I'll post the solution.
Thanks

Re: Selecting objects!
OK, so it IS highlighted in Pink? Then you need to make sure you have that font installed on your system. Or you can change the font to be one you have installed by using the "Find Font" function in InDesign. It's under "Type->Find Font..."
That doesn't explain why you can't edit that text, though...

Re: Selecting objects!
Sounds like the text is on a master page. Ctrl+clicking on it should
override the master and bring the text frame to the live page.

Re: Selecting objects!
It's Ctrl-Shift, but thanks for confirming that, Bob. ;)

Re: Selecting objects!
The problem occured because I did not have a plug-in "WoodWing Smart Layout Designer. It works with text frames.
So, after installing that plug-in everything went on its way!
