SequeLink Setup application
Registry entry:-
HKLM\CCS\Services\Coldfusion\
db\slserver52\bin\swagent.exe "ColdFusion MX ODBC Agent"
db\slserver52\bin\swstrtr.exe "ColdFusion MX ODBC Server"
As can be seen the image path is incorrect. Does not matter if you change it
to the correct path and folder.
The Services entry has this error.
Error2 : The system cannot find the file specified.
When the image path is pointed correctly this error occurs in Services.
'ColdFusion MX ODBC Agent/Server service on local computer started and stopped.
ColdFusion Addministration tells me that the Service is not installed.
I have installed the new Macromedia drivers, sequelink54_sp11,
cfmx61_slserver54--- no success.
I have also applied Access\Security permissions to the Registry, Installed the
SequeLink Setup with admin rights etc.
So it is not my PC (Win XP SP1 x64), nor is it me.......
The advice given on
http://www.macromedia.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=tn_19135 is
absolutely USELESS.
What file extension? Name of the File? Which part of the Directory? How to run
the Script?? Is their a downloadable SequeLink Setup file???
Would be helpful to know all of this.
Does anyone have a solution?
I must say that ASP.Net is starting to look much more favourable. Had much
less problems with the Databasing.

Well, actually, it is your pc (or you), as the
http://www.macromedia.com/software/coldfusion/productinfo/systemreqs/#coldfusion
call for a 32 bit processor for WIndows.

YOU ARE WRONG.
Where does it say NOT 64bit?
It says "or better".
So stop assuming, you know what that leads to!
The AMD and Intel processors are backwards compatible.
Also ColdFusion works!!! EXCEPT the SequeLink.
If you have a positive input then good (how to work around this issue ONLY)
otherwise do not bother to answer.
Like i said everything else works, the JRun and RDS, Dreamweaver, Extensions
plus my web site development.
Except the SQL 2005 SVR, which is supposed to be linked by the SequeLink.
Access works fine too, but I do not want a flat data base file system.

Re: SequeLink Setup application
You might want to read this. http://www.macromedia.com/go/baec9c0c I didn't
make this up, I just found the information by searching the tech notes. If you
insist on running CF on your 64-bit machine, then I would have to assume that
you are on your own, since their requirements and tech notes seem to indicate
that it is not supported. (Since I've never attempted to load it on a 64-bit
machine myself, as I am only taking their word for the fact that they don't
support it. But hey, if you find anything that actually says that ColdFusion
is supported by a 64-bit architecture, then I would be interested in seeing the
data.)

Re: SequeLink Setup application
Phil
I am sorry for shooting my mouth off.
I managed to get it working.
I get agitated when someone has blind faith in what some else says.
It is not impossible to do.
I am a systems engineer with a degree in computer science and have been with
computers for 16 years.
My son is a certified Macromedia developer who advised me on some of the weak
programming inhibited by coldfusion.
I was trying to work out the data linking not JRule, JRE or Coldfusion as
whole- i already did that.
I noticed that alot of the queries were similar in error messages and the
possibilty can exist that they are using Intel D processors or AMD 64.
Since I found a work around I was willing to share.

Re: SequeLink Setup application
I find it interesting that you got this working on this architecture.. makes me
wonder if Adobe/Macromedia has made an enhancement without documenting it.
Also, it is obvious to me now that the problem that you are having was not
related to the 64-bit "issue", so I'm sorry about attempting to steer you down
the wrong path. When I saw in your original post the Win XP SP1 x64 statement,
it set off alarm bells. Congratulations on getting it to work anyway.

Re: SequeLink Setup application
Phil
Thank you.
The 64 architecture is absolutely brilliant. If you know how to set up Windows
correctly (not just clicking next, next etc) it can do a lot. The advantage of
using this is that it has 2 shells, the 32 x 86 and the WOW.
The ColdFusion MX ODBC runs in a legacy environment and by manipulating the
system, COM and registry you can get it to work.
Cheers
