I recently bought a Keyspan USB Serial adaptor so I could access the
console port on my router, and it works very well. Beware of the
Belkin adapator as it doesn't have OSX drivers.

The Keyspan adapator is quite expensive , but I picked one up on ebay.

I'm using a no-name interface I bought at the local computer fair
($A35, ~$US20), which turned out to use the FTDI chipset. Works a
treat with the drivers downloaded from the chipset manufacter's site
(www.ftdichip.com).

Even better than the fact that this thing was inexpensive, the support
is pretty damned good: the only trouble I had was with support for the
BREAK "signal", so I sent an email to the FTDI people. A developer
emailed me a new version of the driver (1.0.7) within about a week,
all fixed! How's that for service?
