Server to assign email messages to staff... - Mac Networking

Hi, I am looking for a solution that will allow me to have / do the following: Needs: Email comes in to our company com.invalid or com.invalid email addresses. Default Server to assign email messages to staff...

    Hi,

I am looking for a solution that will allow me to have / do the
    following:

    Needs:

Email comes in to our company com.invalid or
com.invalid email addresses. The server then assigns the email message to a staff
member at their com.invalid email address. My staff member then responds to the email, and any
replies to this then go back to the same user, therefore making the
staff member take ownership of the clients email, until a resolution is
    reached.

    Wants:

Automatic responce to the client to say that they will have someone
    contact them shortly

Time based decision making.. I have staff the start at different times..
it would be nice to be able to tell the server this, so it doesn't
assign emails to people when they are not likely to be there.

Runs on Mac OS X or Mac OS X Server, or Linux. Other opperating systems
would work too, but not preferred.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

Dont know of any email type solutions, but RT seems like a good
helpdesk/ticket/response system from the open source crowd.
It is all web based, so should be good on all platforms.

Sounds like normal smtp / vacation and maybe procmail to me on Linux and
maybe a NeoMail or squirellmail web interface so all computers can use it .. .... you can do all this now with
your linux system. Maybe setup procmail or just use aliases in /etc/ to
redirect the mail along with vacation for the
    responce and ownership part ...

Maybe I missed something here, but it is as easy as that, and all our
staff use this for the simple stuff.. If you want a hot trouble ticket system
I agree with Dave below that also works ..
