Service Pack 3 AHHHHHH - Microsoft SQL / MS SQL Server

Ok, I installed Service Pack 3 in hopes of keeping everything on the system up-to-date. Halfway through the installation I get an error saying it can't install one of the .sql files then the installation STOPS. It doesn't try to do it again, doesn't try anything. I try to run the installation again and it tells me I have to reboot. I do so.. Once Windows 2K booted back up, errors popped up galore! I started getting this error at first: _GETIUM4 COULD NOT BE LOCATED IN msdart.dll or something to that effect. Well, after doing a little bit of ...

    Default Service Pack 3 AHHHHHH

    Ok,
I installed Service Pack 3 in hopes of keeping
everything on the system up-to-date. Halfway through the
installation I get an error saying it can't install one of
the .sql files then the installation STOPS. It doesn't
try to do it again, doesn't try anything. I try to run
the installation again and it tells me I have to reboot.
I do so.. Once Windows 2K booted back up, errors popped up
galore! I started getting this error at first:

_GETIUM4 COULD NOT BE LOCATED IN msdart.dll

or something to that effect. Well, after doing a little
bit of searching on the net and finding that NO ONE ELSE
is having this problem except maybe 1 other person. I
tried un-installing SQL Server 2000... low and behold
after attempting to do that, even more errors popped up..
this time about 20 of them in a row all referring to
missing DLL points... (Wow, what an un-installer... SHEESH)
So, then I re-installed SQL Server again, rebooted.. and
now I get one lil' error...

GETTEXTEXTENTPOINTI Could not be located in MSDART.DLL

Ok, where was it before and why isn't it there now?! LOL,
Well in hopes that everything would go ok this time, I
tried to re-install SP3... No luck, same error, same
place. and we started the whole vicious cycle all over
again... Seeing as that the definition of insanity is
repeating the same thing over and over again expecting
different results... I feel I'll spare myself the hospital
bill and come to the experts for some help... Well
    experts... HELP!

    Thanks in advance.

LOL, at least you can see the funny side of it :-)

I'm no expert but try deleting MSDART.DLL and installing over again.

Problem - * Can not be found in MSDART.DLL

Where * is is the name of the entry point it can not find.

    Solution:

    Backup SQL Database's

    Un-Install SQL Server

    Stop all related services

    DELETE MSDART.DLL

You should have a dll called MSDART32.DLL, Make a copy of
MSDART32.DLL and rename it to MSDART.DLL

    REBOOT
(You shouldn't receive the errors you were getting before.)

    RE-INSTALL SQL Server
    RE-Install ysis Service

    Reboot
PROBLEM SOLVED! :) (In my case anyway.)
