Default Service Processor Microcode

Hi,
Some days ago I try to update microcode of my 7044-270.
But the process hangs.
When I try to boot machine I recive errors:
> > E000
> > E080
> > 4BA00827
> > E080
I read the manuals (and forums and etc.) and I found that if I write
the image on diskette the system will try to recover microcode...
The problem is that image is 1.6 MB, but the diskette is only
1.44.....
Can somebody help me :-(

Do the upgrade from AIX, not from diskette, but the extraction
instructions tell you that it will unpack to 2 floppy disks.

Sorry, missed the bit about not booting. Follow the instructions at:
https://techsupport.services.ibm.com/server/mdownload//7044x70F.html#5.0%20%20Downloading%20and%20Unpacki ng%20the%20Firmware%20Update
and follow the instructions "5.1.2 Downloading the DOS Format File" to
create the floppies on a Windoze box.

Then you can follow the instructions for recovering from E080.

Hi Steve,
The DOS format file is 2 diskettes with image backup.
DOS diskettes are used to move files between Windows and Unix systems...
To use the DOS format you must use first restore command to restore the image.....
And the image is still 1.6 MB :-(

OK, I was basing my earlier replies on experience on other systems
where you can use the SMS menus to update the the service processor
and system firmware individually from diskettes.

You need to contact IBM CE and get hold of the service processor
firmware image file which must be called spflash.img. Or get the I/O
planar replaced :-)
