Session Variables in a Cluster
I need to setup session variables in a mirrored environment. I have 2 CF 5
boxes that are mirrored and use one SQL box in the backend. When a user logs
into the site they are okay until the are suddenly on the other CF box. At
that time they have to log back into the system. I tried switching from
session to client variables, but then the session never ends.
Can you store session variables in a database?
Where are the session variables stored? The Server's memory?
How should the CFAPPLICATION tag look?
Is it possible to produce a report based on session variables? (For example:
Give me the number or users with an active session.)
Thanks for the help in advance.

Check out http://www.macromedia.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=tn_17882. There are several other good white papers in the CF knowledge base, also.

Re: Session Variables in a Cluster
This is a good article on ColdFusion locking, but I need information on using session variables across mirrored servers.

Re: Session Variables in a Cluster
Since session variables are resident in the server's memory, one would either
have to have "sticky" sessions (ensure that a given user is on the same server
throughout his or her session) or use client variables in a circumstance in
which all servers were configured to use a common data store.
You might check out the ClusterCATS documentation under the ColdFusion
High-Availability section in the docs.
