Setting up a test server
I have ColdFusion MX 7 installed on a server, and now I want to install it on
our test server. The license allows for a test server to be setup, what is the
process by which I achieve this?
During the install, I entered the Serial Code again (once for the live
platform, and again for the test platform on a different machine).
Was I supposed to just select 'Developer's Edition' at the onset of the
installation process?

Setting up CDO on test machine at home
I'm trying to test a VB component which uses CDO, how can I test it from home without exchange server setup etc..? TIA -
The server response was: 550 5.7.1 <test@test.com>... we do not relay
Your web server is set (as it should be) to not send email from domains it doesn't belong to. That's the "we don not relay" part of the message. ... -

simply the developer edition that you downloaded?
That depends--if you purchased a license, that allows you to run CF on a> During the install, I entered the Serial Code again (once for the live

single physical server with 2 processors. You can't use that same
license simultaneously on a second machine. You can use the developer
edition, which doesn't require a serial number, but the developer
edition is limited to connections from localhost and two external IP
addresses.

Re: Setting up a test server
Thanks Matt, I think that's what I was going for. During the install you can
just select 'Developer's Edition' which is what they mean when they advertise
being able to have a production server and a server setup as a test.
Thanks

Re: Setting up a test server
I have two different machines, one "Intranet" is the live server with
ColdFusion intalled on it. The other is "test-intranet" which is the
development server. I need to install ColdFusion as Developer's Edition. The
server has a DNS name of http://test-intranet.firstbankak.com will that still
be able to be used? What is the http://localhost aspect?
In dreamweaver I notice the "manage sites". How does that work with the
Production and Test server. How will I work this out?
Please help, Thanks! :)

the server doesn't violate the connection limitations of the developer
edition you can use it with a domain name, but it will only allow
connections from localhost + 2 other "external" IP addresses.
You'd create one site for the production server and one for the test server.> In dreamweaver I notice the "manage sites". How does that work with the

Re: Setting up a test server
Ok, now I have two sites created: Intranet and Test-Intranet.
Under Local Info, Intranet has v:\ as the local root folder, refresh auto
checked, and http://intranet.firstbankak.com as the HTTP address, with cache
enabled. Remote and testing server is set as None.
Test-Intranet is set with O: as the local root folder and the HTTP is
http://test-intranet.firstbankak.com
It's still not working. When I display a page using F12, it says I need to
configure a test server etc.
