Several issues with CS3
I have several issues with CS3. When I used Contribute 2 I had no problems with
the following.
1. I've imported from Word & copy & pasted but when I align photos left, text
on right and then publish, the pages goes kookie and all out of alignment
2. Not able to resize/change color of text on master page but am able to only
when I make a new page
3. I get spaces between lines when I don't want them and can't get spaces or
move text over when I want to
4. I noticed that on my edit pages, sometimes the content changes font size
but it's okay when published
Can anyone help ? Thanks

Re: Several issues with CS3
1. sorry, this page is password protect, etc. but what I had to mess with it so
it would just lay out with text under each photo and add extra spaces to keep
it from going out of place. I'll do a test page and send you the url so you can
see what it does.
2. On my home page www.digitalassociation.org you will note that color text
has been used. This was done in Contrb 2, but now CS3 won't give me the option
of color text, it's greyed out.
3. I found the setting in Contribute, adm. site, etc. I was missing one step
in the procedure. Does this change, line spacing, only need to be done once to
control all of the pages ?
thanks for your help.

Re: Several issues with CS3
1. photo & text alignment - If you will view
www.digitalassociation.org/worddoctest this is what happens when I importanted
a word document,
on page www.digitalassociation.org/wordtest2 I had to realign the text by hand
2. I can't change my font size or color on new or edited pages, it just
doesn't show in the tool bar as an option. In the admin website, user roles,
change color text is checked but it doesn't work. I have one page that allows
me that choice but not on my other pages. I see nothing in the admin area that
allows for change of font size.
Thanks.

when importing a Word doc. The second page, after you inserted blank lines,
will only work if the user browser's font settings match yours. Probably the
best way to achieve a stack of images with text attached to each would be to
create a table, with two columns. Use left cells for photos and right cells
for text. Copy and paste text in one paragraph at a time.

everything is checked on the Styles and Fonts page in role settings for your
role. You do have styles attached to these pages... You might want to use
the styles rather than tagging the text line by line.

Jean, You probably should look at your pages in Firefox or Safari. They look
much different than they do in IE7.

Art,
I have tried your other suggestions regarding the styles and fonts in the roll
settings but to no avail. Is it possible my program is defective ?
By any chance can you explain to me why our pages look different in the other
search engines? We had no idea. Thanks for letting me know.

I doubt your software is defective. It's gotta be settings somewhere. You

Re: Several issues with CS3
I got your key. Here's what I found. When I EDIT the front page, you're
right: the ability to color text is not there. However, when I create a NEW
blank page, it IS there. So, it's not in the role settings. But...check the
role settings for tester (the key you sent me). What's the setting in
Editing/General editing restrictions. Is Allow unrestricted editing radio
button ticked? If not, then you need to tick it. And, just for good
measure, double-check the role settings/Styles & Fonts, make sure there's a
checkbox by Alow users to apply font color and background color, though I
assume it IS checked, since I could apply font color when I created a new
page.
As a backup measure, you could create a new style with the color you want to
use. Then that style would be available to all users.

Re: Several issues with CS3
Art,
I tried what you suggested but it still didn't work. I now have my web master
back on the scene. He updated the style sheet and changed the text on one page
but the problem still remains with all of the others. From what you said, I
thought that this was a control issue.
I had absolutely no problem before upgrading from 2 to CS3. The webmaster made
some changes to my home page format the other day and in doing so a lot of
pictures were replaced by others (I've since corrected that). In addition text
on a number of pages changed color, white to black. So, now I sit and wait and
see how he works it out.
Thanks for you help.

Re: Several issues with CS3
The black text on the dark blue background doesn't really work. That's there
because someone has marked that text to override the style sheet and turn it
black. As to your other problems...I couldn't further a guess without having
full access. Your webmaster should be able to solve it. The front page has
already improved.

Re: Several issues with CS3
My web guy did the following <<I updated the style sheet and changed the text
on the Conference page. The style sheet serves as a template for the text on
the page. In order for that to work, you need to make sure that when you're
editing text in Contribute, you do not select any other paragraph style (Style
1, Style 2, body, etc.) for your text. If you do, the text will be black.>>
You mentioned <<someone has marked that text to override the style sheet and
turn it black >> I know nothing about changing a style sheet and don't know
what he means by 'editing text in Contribute'.
As my web guy was only supposed to change the color and width on our front
page and make 2 pages public from the members only area, these changes seem to
have occurred on their own. There were also photos that disappeared and others
appeared in their place. I had to manually replace those images. I usually cut
and paste documents/images onto the web pages, althought I discovered the
'insert word document' and did that on a few pages. At times I want text in a
color and that's always worked. These issues I'm having I've never had before I
changed to CS3, not upgrade but full version, and the web guy then made the
requested changes and then the problems showed up. My web guy is not always
quick to deal with changes or issues and does this as a side line, as I guess a
lot of guys do, which is frustrating at times. So the site didn't show the
visual problems, I cut and pasted the correct color text into place.
I've reviewed the pages that allow font size and color changes with the admin
choices, with the pages that don't allow these changes and see no difference in
the admin choices.
Any other idea of what the problem may be ? Thanks for any and all input.

But, as soon as you try to change color, font size, or any other attribute,
Contribute will create a new style all on it's own.
I looked at your style sheet. You only have white and black as font colors.> You mentioned <<someone has marked that text to override the style sheet and

The red color is a result of a Contribute-created style (style 4) in one
instance and a font tag in another instance.
The code doesn't really look all that good. For instance, on the Conference> As my web guy was only supposed to change the color and width on our front

page, it looks like, for the photo cutline, you simply hit the space bar to
move the text over to try to center the cutline below the photo. You -could-
just create a centered style or tell Contribute to center that paragraph and
it should create a centered style for you.
When I paste from a Word doc, I try to paste as unfomatted text.
