Shared Assets-No Preview
I the administrator of some large websites, we're rolling Contribute and
everything is going well. However, I have set up a number of items as shared
assets for users and that seems to work really well but previews of these items
just show a dreamweaver page icon. I would have thought it would display a
preview of the item itself? Using CT3. Any ideas. It would be really useful for
users as they are not the most technical lot and something visual would help
them in their attempts to learn this new software.
Thanks

We only really share images, so the image do show,
I assume you are sharing code so would assume that it is just indicating that is is code?

Re: Shared Assets-No Preview
I agree, this is a major flaw. Apparently Contribute won't preview the
contents of your Library files. So to make it user-friendly I guess you have
to manually upload all your images into the Library Folder. I've been banging
my head against this for a couple of hours and there doesn't seem to be ANY way
to simply upload image assets from within Dreamweaver to a shared folder on the
server. It's almost like they intentionally prevent you from doing this. You
can go find the files on the server or local drive, then Put them up
individually, but they then go into their originating folder, not into the
Library folder. It's too bad because in other ways Dreamweaver and Contribute
integrate very well. :disgust;:(

Re: Shared Assets-No Preview
It would be nice if it could preview code so users could see library items they
can insert. For example, local menus for different areas of a web site. This
would make it much easier to manage site navigation while that users can just
insert into the pages rather than having to create their own and all the
complexity that involves for novice users.
