Default Shifting Text and Overlapping Characters in PDF

Some of my co-workers are finding that some of the PDFs exported out of InDesign CS2 have text problems. Some sentences aren't aligning to the margin along with others, but instead are indented into the paragraph. Also, some characters are squashed together, overlapping one another creating gibberish. The InDesign file is fine with none of these occurrences.

Has anyone had problems with type shifting and characters overlapping in PDFs exported out of InDesign CS2? We use Acrobat 7 Professional and some people are on Mac OS X Tiger while others are still using Panther.

Thanks in advance for any responses.

    Henry,

Since these occurrences happen with ID exported pdf files, I'd ask in
that forum. Offhand I'd wonder if they have more than one type of font
with the same name on their system.

Any chance to post a screenshot here of what it looks like in ID and another one from the appearance in Acrobat?

Disclosing the PDF export setting you're using to the forum could help also.

It might be worth checking you are using a PDF export preset that does
embed the fonts - PRESS as an example ....
