Shockwave 10.1 issue
I have created a website with numerous .swf files inserted on the site. When I
view the website in IE 6.0, I am asked on the information bar if I would like
to update my Active X and Shockwave 10.1 player. When I say yes and update, the
shockwave files no longer play, they just show up as shockwave icons. After I
remove the Shockwave player 10.1 application, the website works fine again, but
the IE banner asking me to update is still there. Why can't I play the .swf
files correctly on the website once I update the shockwave player to 10.1? Is
this some setting in IE that I need to tweak?
Please help!
Thanks!

Re: Shockwave 10.1 issue
If you are attempting to view .swf files then those are Flash movies and as
such you will need to install the Flash player in order to view those within
your browser:
http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/welcome/
At the above URL you will find two simple test movies, the one on top tests
your Shockwave player while the one on the bottom tests your Flash player. If
you can view those two movies then you have the players correctly installed and
perhaps the problems lie on the website you are trying to view and not with
your player or computer.
If installing the Flash player using the link above doesn't resolve the
problems you are having, or I have missed the mark with my reply, then please
post a follow-up reply here so I can assist you further. If possible please
cite an example URL that is failing for you so that I can try to test that on
my end as well. Thanks!

Re: Shockwave 10.1 issue
Thanks for your reply. I did try that test on several computers that give me
that same response and the results are that the Flash part plays fine but the
shockwave part is blank. Smehow when I do install the Shockwave 10.1, my .swf
files do stop playing and just show up as icons. It sound like my flash player
is fine, shockwave is having the issue. Thoughts?
Thanks!
