Default Shockwave crashes computers and/or browser

When I go to test the shockwave player on the player test page, the flash
player works fine, but the shockwave player appears as a black box and my
browser pretends to still be loading indefinitely. If I hit refresh, the
player will appear to work fine. If I right click on a shockwave object, there
is a high probability my computer will restart suddenly, or the browser will
    crash (firefox 2.0).

I have shockwave 10.1.1r19 and the newest version is 10.1.4.020. I would try
updating it but there is a class in the computer lab right now so i cant. I am
making this post in case there are others who had similar problems but did not
find a solution through an update.

Default Re: Shockwave crashes computers and/or browser

updating the player does not solve the problem. Firefox is still very unstable with it and commonly causes the computer to restart abruptly.
