shockwave exe

Hi, I have an old shockwave executable file that I would like to have play on
a web page as soon as someone hits the page. I not quite sure how to do this.
Is there some way to convert it to a .swf file, or something like that, or am I
wasting my time trying? Thanks for your ideas.
