Shockwave Mac OSX & Firefox NOT WORKING
Not sure if I should be posting this in the Flash 9 forum or here. However,
here goes....
I have 2 computers, a MacPro and a Macbook Pro. Both use OS 10.4.11. Both
Macs have Flash 9 for Intel Mac installed as well as Shockwave 10.
Both computers have Safari 3.11; However, my default browser is Firefox. On
my MacPro I'm running Firefox 2.0.0.14, and on my Macbook Pro I'm running
Firefox 3 beta.
Suddenly today, only on my MacPro using Firefox 2.0.0.14, I returned to a
website where I'd just been previously watching an embedded Youtube video, and
now could no longer see any video, as it was replaced by blank space.
Yet with Safari on the same MacPro at the same webpage, I was able to see the
embedded YouTube video.
I thought maybe it was a Firefox thing, however, what's weird is that on my
*Macbook Pro* where I'm currently using the beta version of Firefox 3, I am
totally able to see the YouTube video at that very same webpage.
When I visited the Shockwave test page, it indicated that I didn't have
Shockwave 11 and so I assumed that perhaps I now needed to install Shockwave 11
on my MacPro. I downloaded it. Quit my browser and all other apps, and
installed it. I rebooted my Mac and went to the Shockwave test page which
confirmed that I had successfully installed Shockwave 11.
That said, I STILL could not *see* any YouTube video at the same website I'd
been to early. Yet when I opened up Safari and went to the same website, the
embedded YouTube video was there.
Yet still, why is it that on my Macbook Pro with Shockwave 10 and Flashplayer
9, I can see the embedded Youtube video in a beta of Firefox 3?
Any help would be most appreciated. Last year I went through hell and back
trying to resolve the whole Flash Player 9 issue on an Intel Mac (and did --
under the nickname "sheewolf"). See

It was such a bitch that I posted a step by step layperson's fix (see
http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/webforums/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=184&threadid=
1286278&forumid=44#4727958) so that no other person had to go through the
enormous amount of time and frustration.
I'm hoping someone here might be able to help or reciprocate.
Please help. Much appreciated,
Lisa (formerly a.k.a. "sheewolf")

Re: Shockwave 11 on Intel Mac OSX & Firefox NOT WORKING
Clear your cache and try again, also it might be a fault of a buggy plugin which is incompatible with the current fox version.

Re: Shockwave 11 on Intel Mac OSX & Firefox NOT WORKING
Thank-you to both of you. However, before I could even try your
recommendations, as suddenly and instantly as the problem occured, it
disappeared. Just like that. I will however, keep your suggestion in mind and
try it, should this happen again.
cheers, and thanks for your prompt help. Very much appreciated!
