Default sierra wireless aircard 555 and Mac PB

I have a Sierra Wireless AirCard 555, a PCMCIA cellular data card
which works over the verizon 1xRTT CDMA cellular network. Currently
there are only PC (or PocketPC) drivers for this card. There was a
post on powerpage.org some time back suggesting that a minor fix to
the Mac OS would allow this card to be recognized as a modem.

Anyone know if Apple is aware and planning the chancge in Panther?
