Default site check and general feedback please

Hello

Over the last few days i have been asking for help on a site that i have
been working on. It is very close to being finished, so while I wait on my
client to provide the extra content i need, I thought I would see what you
guys think.

Here is the link: http://www.tlgheating.com/~admin_tlg/

Many thanks

nice looking site. a few comments to bear in mind though...

there's no need for the frames on this site. you have added all of the
notorious frame problems for no real benefit.

well done for using proper html lists, but make sure you use css-styled
<h1>, <h2> etc. headings as well.

you are using css for some elements and font tags! loose the font tags
(which are bloating your pages) - style with css. and move your styles to an
external css which you can apply to all pages (makesupdates/changes
quicker).

use alt attributes for images - especially the contact info!

nice work

I like the overall layout/colours and its simplicity of use and
navigation. I too am not totally convinced about the use of frames.

Personally I would have used a scrolling layer to achieve the same effect.

tested on Mozilla Mac.

I like the look of it, but I too say lose the frames. There's no reason to
be using them, and the scroll bar detracts from the appearance.

Otherwise nice.

Thanks for all your feedback.

I am glad you like the general look nf feel for the site. The reason i have
used frames is so the content in the right frame can change when different
links are hit in the main frame. I.e, clicking on "Bosch" will bring up some
info on the right.

How do I change the contents of a scrolling layer from a link?

Cheers

i think you have designed a solution based on a frameset just because it's
an available option - but it's not ideal. you may want to consider a
different solution that avoids frames. eg. in no particular order:

1/ open a link to a page with the extra info.
2/ open a popup window with the extra info.
3/ include the extra info permanently in the right hand column or in the
copy.
4/ you can use javascript to show/hide layers.

I don't like the frames, but the site looks pretty good. Your copy (text) is
a little amateurish:

We specialise in installing High Efficiency Condensing Boilers that can offer

owner savings on your energy costs and help reduce harmful gas emissions onto

atmosphere which contribute towards Global Warming. The control systems on
