Default Site check - Dial up connection issues

Please check this site: http://www.landscapingconcepts.com

I'm getting complaints about images not loading with dial-up users. I'm not
sure what the problem is? The site works fine with high speed connections.

I just checked the url on a 33.6K dialup and stared at a blank white screen for
60 seconds before deciding to close my browser.

You could try a preloader but, even so, nobody is going to wait that long to
see your site unless it is a REALLY GOOD preloader.

I see no reason to have used flash here...

All that preload time and the only thing that's animated is the
preloader....

Apart from that the design is fine, but why is the site so tall?
Also the "raving fans" section sounded a little false.
You also need to go through the whole site checking your grammar and
spelling...

Bush says he wants broadband for every American by the end of the year. Maybe
that will be your salvation. You have way too many jpegs to do on a single
load. I agree with Ed - this would be much more efficient in HTML.

Sorry, but I have to agree - classic example of a site that would have been
better done in HTML

Sorry if this is a stupid question but it is nagging me. How did you import the
pictures you use as buttons to show the larger pictures? Even on broadband
there is a time delay before the larger picture shows up so it appears that you
load those from external files.

My question is how did you make the thumbnails? Did you import a larger
picture and shrink it down in Flash or did you shrink the picture down in other
software before importing into Flash. If you shrank the pictures down in Flash,
that is a terrible waste of file size and load time.

Like I said, sorry if it is a stupid question. I just cannot explain in my own
mind why your site takes so long to load on dial-up.

I am also a little shaken that Peter actually agreed with anything I have ever
said. :-)

Haha - that made me chuckle ;)

Still, goes to show, when I disagree it's nothing personal...
