    Default Slicing and canvases

Hi everyone... Frustration is setting in. :) ... I have been at this nav bar forever and have finally gotten it to look the way I want it to. Problem is, now when I import it into DW, the entire canvas comes along with it, leaving an unusable, blank white space below and next to the nav bar. Its a curved bar, going along the top of the page and flowing along the left side. I thought that I would slice it up and import it piece by piece, but that didnt work either. The white space was still there. Arrggh.... any suggestions would be more than greatly appreciated before I throw this computer out the window. The link provided gives a close example of the nav bar that I have created. All the text on this website in between the colors on the sides are where my unusable blank white space is showing up. Is there a way to cut the canvas around the image?? Or is there a trick to slicing when the image contains both swap images, pull downs, and simple jpegs? THANK YOU!!

    Hello Econ,

Use HTML slice for the blank area. This will be exported as an empty table
cell when exported as HTML and Images. From there you can put in contents
you want for that area of your page. Just draw a slice in Fireworks and in
the properties inspector, make sure it is set to HTML slice.

Oh and before I forget, you can trim your canvas as well using Fireworks
making the center image you referrence point in trimming the
canvas...meaning , telling Fireworks to cut the canvas leaving the content
of the middle part, thus trmming the sides only. Just go to Modify > Canvas
and in the option box for the canvas supply the dimension for the canvas and
set the anchor to the middle portion....
