Slide in layers(/ windows (?) with video in them?
Hi all, your help is appreciated with this one, in advance!
So, I would like to create a Flash project that has video within it. I am using Flash 2004MX Pro. I have run around trying the idea of using a popup window, but it appears that I must run them from within the HTML environment -which is not going to work, as this project is to be delivered on a CD Rom, and I'd like to create a stand alone application (no HTML files on the CD, etc.)
The next idea is to have an element (layer?) that resides mostly "off screen" -maybe with a small tab showing off the side of the file, and when either a button, or the tab is clicked/rolled over, the overlaying window (layer?) slides into view, and begins playing the external video clip (.flv).
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I might do to achieve this? If I fooled around enough wil it, I might get something that comes close to working, but as I'm not the most technically sophisticated person in the world, I figured that someone out there might save some anguish!
Thanks so much again!
Rob

Re: Slide in layers(/ windows (?) with video in them?
take what i say with a grain of salt.
create a sliding menu tab. which is a movie clip with a mask on it making only what you want visible and with a rollover command that tells the movie to play.
that should get you the sliding menu tab, now you need to include a movie to play within that tab, which the menu would have to be a mask as well that crops and hides only the movie parts you want.
sounds like you will have to create and play around with movie clips and masks to figure this one out.
good luck
