Re: Slow system 10 performance
I'm running Illustrator 8x on 9.2.2 (G4, 1.50 ram). I like the additional features in Illustrator 10x, but it runs slow — hesitates with every command — in 9.2.2. Any suggestions?

Re: Slow system 10 performance
Did you try the previous suggestions in this topic? Trashing preferences, removing Adobefnt.lst files (not Adobefnt.db), checking to see if you have the latest Carbonlib extention in your system folder (version 1.6), turning off Anti virus protection, and so on.

Re: Slow system 10 performance
Mr. Holmes:
Done. done, and done. And it didn't help at all. Actually, my only complaint is with the slight (1 second) hesitation when I click on the pull-down menu. I know it sounds tick-tack, but if you work in AI all day it gets quite annoying.
Any other suggestions?

Re: Slow system 10 performance
I noticed a difference in speed when I put Norton Antivirus on my Mac. Do you have it running? It is also a no-no for OSX.

Re: Slow system 10 performance
I also have this problem.
I found no solution, but try keeping your files as .ai files as long as possible, as they save MUCH faster than .eps files.
My sanity has partially retuned since I have been doing this.

Re: Slow system 10 performance
Chris, have you also tried deleting any unnessasary styles, brushes, symbols and swatches? That also will reduce file size.

Re: Slow system 10 performance
I always delete the unused colours.
I don't use styles and i don't have the brushes palette open.
Do I need to be doing antmore in regards those two things?
Thanks

Re: Slow system 10 performance
Check it out. Open them up and see how many items are in those pallets.

Then you're o.k. as far as that goes.
