Slow to quit, force quit sometimes necessary
Has anyone else experienced general slowness in starting and quitting the application?
My users are on Acrobat Pro 7.08, using OS 10.4.6 on Dual 2.0 G5s (powermac). Quitting the app can take several minutes of spinning beachball. Sometimes it quits after a few minutes, sometimes it needs to be forced.
This causes problems for me specifically because it stalls the OS when it tries to time-out a user.

Re: Slow to quit, force quit sometimes necessary
Walter,
See if turning off updates helps. I find most of my stalls for all
applications in 10.4 seem to be related to network access.

Also see if you're using any third-party plug-ins which might be hogging
things?

Re: Slow to quit, force quit sometimes necessary
Updates are off.
We are using PitStop. We have been using PitStop for years. Is there a known issue with PitStop affecting Acrobat perfomance?
We do use network logins, as I assume most larger companies must. No other app stalls like this (including other Adobe apps), so I would think Acrobat should be able to handle it as well.
Thanks for the suggestions/comments. Keep 'em coming.

Re: Slow to quit, force quit sometimes necessary
Acrobat Pro 7.0.8
Pitstop Pro 7.0.1
OS 10.4.6
Dual 2.0 GHz PowerPC G5
1.5 GB RAM
We have many other programs installed including the rest of the CS2 design package, Quark 7.0, Preps 5.1.2, Office, etc. No other program we use has this problem.
We experience these long delays regardless of which/how many other programs are launched. In fact, we experience this issue if Acrobat is the first and only program launched.

Re: Slow to quit, force quit sometimes necessary
It might be a Pitstop issue ... why not perform the following:
Browse to the Acrobat 7 Professional folder
Highlight the Acrobat icon and then APPLE-I
At the bottom, deselect ENFOCUS as the plug-in
Now try it ...

Re: Slow to quit, force quit sometimes necessary
Same thing happens to me although I do not have pitstop. I do run cocktail ice a week to clean out caches and such which does make quitting time faster. But as the week progresses, it slows down again. Leads me to believe that it's got something to do with font caches??
