Default So Long and Thanks for all the Fish...

At least for a little while.

Some of the other Adobe forums have left a bad taste in my mouth so I am choosing to take a break from all of the forums. I realize this is vague but it is not something worth discussing.

If I left any topics open, I apologize for not getting back to them.

Just wanted to say "so long" to the regulars here. (and you know who you are) :)

"and thanks for all the fish",

    John

Well I hope you will be back as you brought so much attention to issues that are important even if we didn't agree. Well I am not so sure we didn't agree but just had different solutions to the problem.

O used to contribute a lot to the PS Forum but found that I learnt more here from people like You and Gary and Teri and Mordy and Jet and even Doug…oh ˆcan believe I wrote that…and Dave.

Come when you have some time…please!

This is a disaster. Left afloat smack in the middle of my AI learning curve without
my articulate, deeply knowledgable, ever practical-minded, and uncommonly
    generous guide.

    This is a disaster.

    You'll be back.

On this day we lost the single most valuble resource on these forums...I've seen this guy show Illustrator engineers how to run their own software.

    John has abandoned us?

    This is terrible news.

Give him anything he wants (well perhaps not a Ferrari) but drag him back here somehow.

But as John hasn't replied I can only imagine that it WILL take a Ferrari……

must be the snooty jerks over at the photoshop forum. I for one love their holier than thou attitiudes towards me in a program that I would probably run circles aroung them in. But then again I am not a overpaid photographer just a lowly guy that still remembers how to draw with a pencil.

Too bad that a few bad apples can ruin it for everybody.

It seems sometimes we fail to appreciate the big hearts who come along with a wealth of common sense and knowledge. I see a tendency for some to actually feel threatened and react in an adversarial way, which quenches the spirit of the one who is trying to help. Many of us then sit by and allow those very ones who've taken the time to help be insulted and challenged unfairly.

I guess it's human nature left unchecked and I can be just as guilty at times if I'm not careful. I hate to see people trampling on the feelings of others. I would like to see this forum get back to the attaboy spirit whereby the regulars show mutual respect for oneanother... and think twice before allowing pride over who gets the glory, or who's right or wrong, to manifest itself.

I would also like to see more patience displayed toward someone who comes along and perhaps in their frustration doesn't word their post just right. I have had times where I posted in frustration and thankfully I was not jumped on. The patiece shown to me was greatly appreciated, as well as the good advice.

Anyway, for what it's worth, I guess I would like to have these forums continue to be a place of information exchange... but also a place of patience and encouragement.

    Does that make sense?

Personally, I feel that letting anyone dictate what you think and feel is just letting them win. I don't think that is Johns' motive...

Posting and following threads can be entertaining as well as educational. Human nature does allow for inevitable confrontations, some times becoming way too personal. When it gets to a point where it is not fun anymore, why bother.

Steeping back is like going out for fresh air, or taking a well earned vacation. John's decision does not require him to jusify himself to anyone. Mentioning ones departure to those who might miss him is an act of simple common courtesy which can be very uncommon sometimes.

Bonne chance, John... Come bnack when you please... Most of the same old debates will still be going on, and on... ;-)

Makes sense to me. It would go a long way if everyone, as much as possible, would try to keep their sense of humor intact (not always easy when you're on deadline) and not take themselves so seriously.

A good sense of humor... oh yes... a great way to go through life. :)

I look forward to when John returns. He offers a lot of valuable information from his world of printing... and besides that he's a nice guy!
