so slow...
Hello,
I've problem with Freehand MX when I try to move objects from one to another
end of the document. It takes 30 sec and longer, sometimes it says there's not
enouh memory to do this. But that must be a joke. Ther are 2 gig RAM in a 3,4
GHz machine. Should be enough for Freehand. I'm working with Windows XP Pro.
Can anybody help me?

Have you applied the FHMX 11.0.2 updater?

Re: so slow...
Hi,
What applications are running in the background while you use FreeHand MX?
Specifically, make sure that your anti-virus' real time protection is disabled.
This feature affects most applications that deal with vector graphics
conversions.
I hope this helps.

Re: so slow...
Considering that antivirus software is almost mandatory these days,
especially in a corporate networked situations it seems to me that MM
should take this into account for software design, at least for the Major
antivirus software packages such as Norton

Re: so slow...
Here are a few things known to slow FHMX to a crawl:
1. Many Raster Effects in document when Document Setting > Raster Effects
Setting is set to a high res. Workaround: Set Raster Effects Setting to 72
ppi while working and change to higher res only when printing.
2. Many high-res TIFF images in file. Set Preferences > Redraw to Low
resolution. Make sure to set it back to Full before printing to
non-Postscript printer.
3. Many nested groups of complex paths. I suspect that FHMX applies group
level attributes to all groups even if you have not assigned any group-level
attributes. These multiply exponentially when you have groups within groups
within groups. Workaround: Ungroup and reduce the number and depth of nested
groups. Use layers if necessary to manage complex vector art.

Re: so slow...
thank to all of you,
yes I think, its the Norton Antvirus that make the problems. But all of our
machines have this problem and I cant disable the protection. This wil end in
chaos. Maybe thats the answer. Disable antvirus, wait a bit, crash your network
and go home. Then it doesn't matter when Freehand is a little slow... :-)
