    Default Softdrink's crown

How to make a distorted circle? Such as softdrink crown? School Patch logo? A circle with wavy side?

For a bottle cap, draw a circle by holding the Shift key down while dragging
with the Ellipse tool. Then in the Object panel, select the Add Effects
button and choose Ragged from the drop-down menu. Choose Smooth, and put a
check in the Uniform box. Then adjust the size and frequency of the waves
with the sliders (or input numbers directly).

That gives you a circle with a wavy outline. To give it dimension, you have
to use the 3D Rotation tool, but if you just use it on the circle you made
with the ragged effect, the ragged edge simply follows the ellipse without
gaining a 3D appearance. In order to pull that off, use the Trace tool set
to Outer Edge. Trace the circle and THEN use the 3D Rotation tool. The waves
in the front will be wide, and the ones on the far side will get closer
    together.

You can either delete the original circle, or save it to try another
    effect/distortion.

Note, I'm not talking about 3D Extrusion - it's the Rotation tool, nested
with the Fisheye lens and Perspective tools in the Toolbar.

    Good luck,

    Ron

    Hi Nightrain!

    maybe this:

Roughen command. I have a button for this in a toolbar because I use it almost
    everyday. Just click and drag.
    Envelope
    - lot of preset shapes to use
    - use a path to shape another (paste as envelope)
    - make your shape a envelope and shape it with transform handles directly
Eraser tool - manually modify the shape be erasing parts of it
    Bend tool
Trace tool - makes vector shapes out of a bitmap image - and modify it with
    tools later.
    Clipping paths (paste inside)

Experiment and see what works for you:)

I find that using Modify>Separate Attributes, then ungrouping gives a
more accurate 'trace' of vector effects.

Good call, Danny! I haven't played much with Separate Attributes, but I will
    now.

in adobe illustrator I do this. see if you can do soemthing similar. i draw a
single line as it would look if you cut the cap in half. then click the creat
3d shape and tinker with it there. then the program draws the rest. try it out.

I would draw a many-pointed star with the polygon tool and apply curve
values to vertices (properties panel:object:vertices- Bottom left two
    entry fields)

Correction: Bottom right two entry fields. Is there such a thing as adult
    onset dyslexia?
