It wouldn't be the first time someone has forgotten to plug the speakers
in/switch them on/install a sound card.
How many W98 PCs have you tried it on? Do those computers normally make sounds?
Do you check/set the soundDevice in the movie?

information or to remember the obvious. It's nice that you tell us which
OS, but there's still not much information for those of us not in the same
room with you to go on.
Just think how you would try to answer your question if your client or an
end user asked it of you over the phone. Is there enough information that
you can point right to the problem? If not, what would your first question
be?
Andrew listed just some of the possibilities among who knows how many.
Should we assume you've already eliminated those? Exactly which
possibilities should we automatically assume you have eliminated?
While developers are usually better at troubleshooting, we're certainly not
immune to missing the obvious. I once spent about 20 minutes
troubleshooting the same problem before I finally noticed that the speakers
had a power switch and that it was turned off. I skipped one of the most
obvious and basic steps of troubleshooting and it was one of those classic
slap-your-forehead moments* that we all experience.
*I once had to convince a panicking operator that a particular piece of
equipment worked exactly as it was supposed to in oh-eff-eff mode. It was
designed specifically to stop interrogating and sending data and all the
indicator lights are supposed to go out when the mode switch is rotated to
the Off position. Seriously. I slapped his forehead for him.
