    * Sound channels

    Use the Left and right sound channels in the score.
    Up to 128 sound channels can be mixed by code : use the puppetSound
    soundChannelNum, castMemberName lingo instruction

    * Sound file formats

    SWA, MP3, WAV, AIFF

    You create Shockwave Audio (SWA) files from within Director : menu Xtras >
    Convert WAV to SWA

    * Sound behaviors in the Chrome Lib

    You can also play a sound in an embedded Flash SWF file.

    Besides, in an embedded Flash, you can use the ID3 properties:

    mySound.id3.songname

    mySound.id3.artist

    mySound.id3.album

    mySound.id3.year

    mySound.id3.comment

    mySound.id3.track (available only for ID3v1.1 tags)

    mySound.id3.genre

    You can also add some cuepoints to an AIFF file in Sound Edit 16 and trigger
    an action when a cuepoint is met.

    3D sounds certainly is a lack. There was a 3D sound feature the Alias
    Wavefront Maya RTA plugin for Shockwave 3D.

    Hi,

    How do you mean "Up to 128 sound channels can be mixed by code"? If I do
    this:

    repeat with channel = 1 to 128
    puppetSound channel, "sound"
    end repeat

    ....it will only play the soundfile in 8 channels.... there is, to my
    knowledge, NO channel 9 to 128? Could anyone please fill me in on this?

    That's right. You can only mix 128 sound channels on the Macintosh.
    On PC, you are limited to only 8.
