I had this problem too. Sadly I don't have an answer for you. Which version of
Flash are you using? I was using MX04pro. I could hear the sound in the import
dialog windows, but neither importing the sound as a separate or integrated
    file worked

What I ended up doing is purchasing QuickTime Pro from Apple. (I'm on a Mac,
but there is also a Windows version.) Then I got the (free) Macromedia Video
Export Plugin. This allows me to export directly to FLV format from QuickTime
or iMovie. There are a goodly number of options. Then the FLV can be either
imported into your Flash file or you can use ActionScript to dynamically load
    the file

Good luck. If you do find another work around or answer, please post it

Thanks. Will definately try your work around.

FYI, I am using MX2004Pro on a Mac, but I also encountered the same problem with a different file on MX but couldn't resolve it.
