Special Characters - Mac vs. PC - Help
Hi,
im developing an hybrid application in director. The application is running very well in PC and MAC, but there is a problem annoying me. I can't make the special characters appear correctly.
I'm using lingo ImportFileInto to import text files from directories and then display them in a flash interface inside director. In the PC all characters are displayed correctly but on the MAC OS X it doesnt work.
I tried to import fontmap.txt, but as it doesn't bind to Lingo it didnt work.
I read this page for more information: http://www.updatestage.com/previous/980101.html
I have been searching for answers for days. I need all special characters working, because the application will be distributed in several countries.
I did some tests, like:
- Saved using a MAC (TextEdit) the txt files in all enconding formats: UTF-8, Unicode, Mac Western Roman and Windows format. When I save in windows format the application displays the text correctly.
When I generate the projector on the MAC and build all directories on it and create the txt files also on the MAC shouldnt it work? Like everything is native so should it be displaying the native enconding?
I searched all over the Internet, but the posts are not very accurate or don't concern Lingo.
Best Regards

Hi Thomas,
Are you using high ascii characters? These characters are not the same on
all systems. There is also a bug with the flash asset xtra of dir mx on the
mac werein special characters in a flash sprite will not show up correctly
on the Mac. Make sure that you have the updated flash asset xtra (as well as
fontmap):

I will try to generate the swf on a Mac also, because I used the System.useCodepage and it didnt work either.
