Default spellcheck Word document after data merge with Filemaker

For some reason, I cannot spell check a document that was created from
a data merge with Filemaker Pro. I run Spellcheck, it will tell me
"the spelling check is complete" when I know for a fact that there are
incorrectly spelled words in there. This happens on either PC or Mac.

However, it will spell check headers and footers, just not the body of
    the text.

Could it be that the language setting is different in header/footer and
the document body? Sounds as if header/footer is set to English and body
    is set to No Proofing...
