Spirals with gradient - Macromedia Freehand

I am trying to draw the spiral WITHOUT closing off the ends, with a gradient fill. Tried to do it in FH and FW MX and can't figure out how. TIA...

    I am trying to draw the spiral WITHOUT closing off the ends, with a gradient fill. Tried to do it in FH and FW MX and can't figure out how.

    You can only fill closed shapes. A spiral is an open path. You can use the 'Expand Stroke' Xtra (Xtras menu> Path Operations) to create a closed shape of the spiral path, basically an outline of your stroke, with area inside the line that can be filled.

    Stroke. Then use with a gradient fill.
