Re: Splitting a Logo
A quick and dirty fix is sometimes to make a full copy of the logo for each
side. Cover the half you want to lose with a box - rectangle or whatever, just
Fill with Basic-White and change the Stroke(Outline) to Basic-White - this will
allow you to cover up the part you don't want to show. You end up with two 1/2
logos that are visible. With luck, someone can tell you the "proper" way to do
it too :)

Re: Splitting a Logo
Draw a line for the axis you want the split along. Convert it to a guide.
Use the knife tool in straight line mode tool with the snap to guide option
on. You should be able to slice cleanly down the line.

Re: Splitting a Logo
Assuming you are talking about vector artwork, not a raster image:
1. DoubleClick the Knife tool. Set its options for Straight, Width zero,
Close Cut Paths, Tight.
2. Select the artwork. ShiftDrag the knife horizontally across it.
or
1. Rectangle Tool: Draw a rectangle (simple stroke, no fill) encompassing
the bottom half of the artwork. Ungroup. Select both the artwork and the
rectangle.
2. Press Shift (on Windows; on Mac I think it's Option) and select
Modify>Combine>Punch. You should now have a copy of half of the artwork
outside the rectangle. The original should be intact.
3. DirectSelect the bottom two points of the rectangle and drag them upward
until they are above the logo.
4. Apply Modify>Combine>Punch again, but this time without the Shift
(Option) key.

Thanks for the reply guys, One further question does anyone know if Macromedia has any plans to allow files to be exported as an HPGL?
