Re: Spot color tints and photoshop transparency
Spot colour chanels in PSDs do not work well in connection with transparency.
Actually they don't work correctly at all.
It's one of the two things that InDesign does not support in PSDs. Layer blend modes being the other one.
You'd get correct results if you loose the transparency in Photoshop and set the image to multiply or overprinit in InDesign.

Re: Spot color tints and photoshop transparency
Spot colour chanels in PSDs do not work well in connection with transparency.
I need to be more specific: they work well in Photoshop but you cannot place them in InDesign

Re: Spot color tints and photoshop transparency
I am reading the density of the spot tint in id by using the seperations preview. As you drag your cursor around the image it reports the ink percentages.
I fixed the problem by using the multiply method you described. Glad to know I am not the only one experiencing this bug.
Thanks.

Re: Spot color tints and photoshop transparency
It's not a bug, it's just a limitation of the way it works.
