    Hello,

we are runing a batch update program, which will insert
batch of user records into sql server 2000. The text file
which contains user records is less than 1M bytes. The
memory is 1G, hard driver is 20G totally, 10G is free. CPU
    is Intel P3 1.2G.

the program fail if the records include 5000 records, only
4826 records insert into the table. while the program
succeed if it contains less than 4500 records.

I check the database using enterprise manager, the data
file's size is 119M, while the transaction log is 560M, I
am not sure why the log file is huge.

    Any idea is appreciated.

    Hello Vyaas,

    Thanks for your reply.

the database recovery model is full recovery.

As of the error message, I didn't receive any error
message. I run the application through DOS batch script,
it will call a javascript file, and the insert statemnt is
in the javascript file. when I run the batch script file,
the process is suspending if the records is 5000.

Can I view the error message from Enterprise Manager?

    I appreicate your help.

    Regards,

    John

Okay. Hopefully you are taking regular transaction log backups, as this will
keep the logfile size in check.

You could use Profiler to see what the javascript is doing.

Using Javascript file doesn't sound like an efficient method. I'd suggest
    you consider DTS.

Sorry, can't be of much help.
