SSH/SFTP/SSL and Macromedia - Macromedia Dreamweaver

I've been wanting sftp added, through Macromedia or a third party plug-in, to Dreamweaver for sometime. This has been the first real response I've received on the topic. We use Dreamweaver as our main HTML interface development tool, and it very frustrating to keep an active list of files that have been modified/created to upload with another application. We also loose the ability to "check out" a site for updates. This is feature that could really help our production cycle. Our servers do not support ftp, only sftp....

Just wanted to let you guys know that there is an ssh client out there that lets you do an ftp-sftp bridge. It works with Dreamweaver. I have been using it for over a year now. It certainly doesn't make up for a built in client, but it is a good temporary solution.

It is a Java client called Mindterm. I have tested it on both Mac and PC (Always use the latest JRE). It is free for personal use and commercial use, if it is used by less that 100 individuals in the organization. You need to buy a site liscence if you have more than 100 users.

    You can get it http://www.appgate.com/mindterm/

I use WS_FTP Pro v8 for SSH/SFTP/SSL transfers It's a pain having to switch progs to transfer ... rediculous that a software package that is often described as the professional we designers tool doesn't have this included.

MAYBE MACROMEDIA WILL PUT THIS ON CD AND CALLED THE CD DRK5 THAT WAY WE I PAY THEM ANOTHER $99 FOR A CD WITH A LOT OF STUFF ON I PROBABLY WON'T USE, JUST TO GET THE 1 OR 2 EXTENSIONS I WANT !!

MACROMEDIA HAVE MOVED TO THE DARK SIDE !!!! DON'T HOLD YOUR BREATH IF YOU THINK THEY'LL OFFER SSH/FTP/SSL FEATURES FOR DREAMWEAVER AS A FREE UPDATE !!!
