Re:Stage cuts off in projector on other computers
Hi,
How about doing this ?....
go thru the LCD settings cuz most LCD's have a centering property that controls how much of the screen is actually projected... the settings differ from projector to projector ... i use an NEC projector here... anyway ..jus tell me this
1. The resolution of ur movie
2. The resolution of the LCD/desktop
Are u doing any resolution math ?... ie changing resolutions etc ??...
If you normally connect the LCD and just use the computer...does the output on the LCD still remain the same ??.. (the curved style)... or does it happen only when the projector plays ??... the other thing is there are certian LCD's that may not be set up correctly to recieve a computer video signal.... this is more of an LCD problem....anyway post up if you're still stuck...

Re:Stage cuts off in projector on other computers
Thanks for sticking with this, I appreciate it so much.
I'm positive it is not an LCD issue, as I saw the problem on two other computer screens with no LCD involved. It's just that the first time I saw the problem, I was at an AV rental place to test it with the LCD.
I designed the piece with my computer set at 1280 x 1024. (I know, it's small, but I need to see entire page layouts when I work.) I've tested it on my computer at all the lower resolutions, but it never cuts off on my own computer. I've changed the resolutions on the other computers, and it cuts off at every resolution setting. I was unable to test on the other computers at 1280 x 1024, because those settings were not available. I believe that resolution is probably not the issue, although I guess it's possible that if I can try another computer that has the 1280 x 1024 available, maybe it will work at that resolution? Do you think that's it?
I've started to think maybe it's something I can control within Director, but I have no idea where.
Thanks again,
Paula

Re:Stage cuts off in projector on other computers
Hi,
Just outline the steps you take or do when running the projector.. obviously the screen res wouldn't be 1280 in the first place....so what do u do ?... are u running the exe after manually changing the res ?... or aren't u doin that at all ?....cuz since you've mentioned that the same problem exists on computers without LCD screens...what's the nature of this project ?....
But still you can't write off the resolution factor... my best bet would be for you to try it on another monitor that supports 1280 x 1024...have u checked the target monitor's /LCD settings for things like pincushion, trapzoid etc... ?.. cuz these parameters squeeze or bulge the screen depending on the res. that's active. (as far as i know)...
From Director's point of view....
1. FixStage Size and Center Stage or
2. Projector options dialog ... ->Center Movie....
Cheers!

Re:Stage cuts off in projector on other computers
Sorry, I think we're having semantics problems. I only used "LCD" so I could distinguish between a projector that you use to project images onto a white screen and the Director projector file. I was not referring to the LCD monitor screens on the computer. I forgot that they're also LCD. So sorry. I used the first kind of projector with a laptop and desktop at an AV rental place. Then I used a desktop at a friend's with no physical projector and it cut off. I emailed the project to another friend, and it cut off on his computer screen, as well.
The steps:
I put in the CD, and launch the .exe without doing anything else. It cuts off the stage.
Then I change the resolution on the computer one step higher. It still cuts off.
And so on.
As you say, I'll try the 1280 x 1024 on another computer, and I'll look into FixStage Size and Center Stage.
Thanks again. I'll let you know whether I have any success with this.
Take care,
Paula
