Fixed it - install MS Journal Viewer and away we go! This was alluded to in some of the other threads where they talk of repairing it. Windows kb815036 refers to this and gives a location for the install.

I also ran into this problem and removing/reinstalling journal viewer or changing the shortcuts did NOT fix the problem on my XP laptop. It kept asking for the location of Microsoft Windows Journal Viewer.msi Eventually I figured out how to get that file: download journal viewer from microsoft and then get into your command line. From the directory where you downloaded setup.exe, type: setup.exe /c /t:c:\mjv and it will extract the needed .msi file into the c:\mjv directory. Then startup Acrobat again, and browse to that directory when the error pops up again. The Adobe troubleshooting document #329118 was not helpful.
