STILL colour problems in CS2 Apps
InDesign CS2 and Photoshop CS2 / G5 OS 10.4.6
My placed tiff files in InDesign do not have their edges disappear. The colours in the tiff are spec'd exactly as the block of colour in InDesign. But I can see the Tiff's edges in a composite print and also on the separations. It's small but they are there.
• I've used Bridge to apply and un-apply all app colour settings.
• I've turned the colour management on and off via each individual app.
• I've turned colour management on to the same in all apps, via the individual app.
• I've made sure all apps have the exact same colour settings.
• I've eyedropped the tiff colour in the placed image (in InDesign) then changed the colour of the InDesign swatch to match.
• I've used the swatch palette and not the tool palette to set my colour swatches in InDesign.
I still see the placed image's edges, using all of the above proceedures.
Any new thoughts from anyone would be gratefully appreciated.
Thanks to all in advance.

Re: STILL colour problems in CS2 Apps
Is your TIFF RGB? I don't think so as I read your message, but one never knows;
If you place an RGB colour on a CMYK color this can cause problems.
Can you give some more information about the placed TIFF? Does the TIFF has exactly the same CMYK profile as your InDesign document, and/or (more important:) is this the same CMYK as your output device? What happens if you choose Convert to profile and choose your output CMYK profile?
Also: have you turned CMYK to CMYK managing off?

This makes no sense.

Re: STILL colour problems in CS2 Apps
Open Separations Preview palette, turn on Separations and run your cursor over the TIFF and ID color. Do the readouts change? If they do what are the two versions of the mix?

Re: STILL colour problems in CS2 Apps
You've said EDGES a couple of times.
This makes me think maybe your frame stroke needs to be set to that fill color.
I've found I've had to do that before.
Check out different stroke options & see what you get.

Re: STILL colour problems in CS2 Apps
Now after 3 days on Forum, I am totally embarrased.
Wa Veghel __ Thank you.
No one, especially me, thought of the most simple problem. My tiff's were RGB. Changed them to CMYK and the colours matched and edges disappeared.
I just don't work in RGB and keep forgetting to set my ps files to CMYK.
Thank you all for your imput.

Re: STILL colour problems in CS2 Apps
It is a well known problem, many people have seen their black TIFFS not match their black background in InDesign (or QXPress) because of this RGB to CMYK colormanagment, so don't be embarrased, we are here at this forum to help eachother out.
