stochastic printing
Is there a way to do stochastic printing from InDesign to a HP laser printer? I'm printing photos. I'm taking a screenprinting class and wanted to experiment with some photos at different lpi, etc.
(FYI: I'm on a Mac, OS 10.3.9, InDesign CS2, Photoshop CS2, HP LaserJet 5000N)
Thanks

Re: stochastic printing
Stochastic screening is a technology that is generated from a RIP. You can simulate the random dot effect of stochastic screening in Photoshop with this method. Open image in PS, convert to CMYK. Select just the cyan channel, copy and paste into a new PS document. Change grayscale mode to Bitmap (diffusion dither). Copy file and paste just into cyan channel. Repeat for M,Y,K. Save as new document. Remember, this is just a simulation, true stochastic dots will be considerably smaller.

Re: stochastic printing
Don't most color laserprinters utilize some type of FM screening anyway?
