InDesign CS 3.01, Windows 2000

This is a story that constitutes a chapter in a book. At the last
frame the text-out icon is normally an empty box, indicating that
there is no overset text. In addition, the last character in the text
is a little symbol that looks like a #.

The frame looks fine, including the # at the end of the text. But the
frame still shows more text has flowed to another frame -- a blue text
out box, not a red box. Curious, I clicked on the blue text out box
and flowed the rest of the text to a new frame out in the pasteboard.
I made this frame huge. No text appeared in the additional frame, but
its text-out icon was also blue. So I repeated the process, creating
half a dozen more frames. None showed any text. Looking at the
original document in Word, the text ends at the last frame before I
started adding frames, at the # symbol. That frame should have an open
box for the text-out icon, but it does not.

In addition, I put the text cursor at the end of the text, just before
the #, and hit the down arrow key. If the frame did, indeed, flow to
another frame somewhere, the cursor should have gone to that frame,
even if the subsequent frame was pages away. But the cursor went
nowhere. There is no more text. The text-out icons are lying.

Bug?
