Is there anyway to speed up the "Update All Assignments" feature in InDesign CS2? It takes forever on my Dual 2.5 Ghz G5 w/ 8G of RAM. I have a 156 page book that's segmented into 5 sections. Each section has 20-30 InCopy assignments (with 2-3 stories for each assignment) and 30-35 pages. When I'm finished working on each section all of my assignments become flagged and need to be updated before I close the document. It takes up to 20 minutes for each document within the book. A real slow down. ID does give me the option to no save the modified assignments but I'm afraid that if I don't I will lose some of the changes I've made.

BTW, I'm not employing version cue for this project. Since I wasn't familiar enough with it and as I had no time to experiment setting it up I decided against using it this time around. I'm not sure if this is part of my slowdown problem.

    Any insight is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

I have a 156 page magazine that is separated into 5 books. When I enter each document the page number pallet does not match the pagination that I have set. So for example, pages 50-81 show 1-32 in the pages pallet. The automatic page numbering does function correctly but it will prove difficult to repaginate the pages using the pallet since the numbers don't match. Is there anyway to have the numbers match in the pallet?

Thanks in advance for any responses.

Thanks for the response Robert. Yes, they are both up to date. I installed the updates the day that they became available.

BTW, I figured out the page numbering issue. I had to set the General preferences to show Section numbering instead of Absolute numbering.
