    Default strange spacing problem

    Hi,

On several of the pages on my site, I have a column of buttons each separated by a line one pixel in height. To the right, there are several tables. When I look at the pages on my website on MY computer, it looks fine. But if i look at the same pages on another computer, the spacing is all messed up, with sometimes 3 or 4 pixels separating the buttons, and sometimes 1. This makes me think that there is a reference in the html to something that exists only on my computer, but I haven't been able to find anything. I noticed in the code that there is a "fwtable" line which references the original png file. Is this important? Any ideas?

    Thanks

I am having the same problem in MX2004. Take any image created in Fireworks and add slices or buttons and the whole image gets spaced out. I think FW2004 adds a 1px border to every slice and then it throws off your graphic look.

THIS IS VERY DISCOURAGING AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. I can't believe there is no one else out there with this problem.

I have put a test url of what I mean below.

This is heard so often these days that it makes me wonder if the
designers of software and hardware even try this stuff out before they
start selling it. It's like the "can't save" problem on OSX. Macro
    says it's Apple's screw-up and Apple says it's because Macro didn't
carbonize their apps correctly. But where's the fix??? Not
forthcomeing because the "new" version is comming out soon. Christ,
how much dough do these guys think people have to spend on this stuff?
    Sorry about the "rant"

Linda: I was unable to find your message in the Dreamweaver forum, could you please provide a link?

Also, if this is a problem with Fireworks, then why does it show up correctly on my computer, but not on anyone else's? Shouldn't it look screwed up to me too?

It's funny, because what I did was create the buttons in Fireworks, then export it to html, and then I added some tables in Dreamweaver. I noticed that if I made a table cell, and then put in some text that forced the cell bigger, the buttons would get screwed up. But if I made the cells big enough before adding the text, then the buttons on the left wouldn't change. So I made giant cells, pasted the text I wanted, and then shrunk them down so they were the right size, and then it looked fine...until I uploaded it to my web host and saw the mess-up.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,

    Gurg

    Hi Gurg,

It was -Chris's question I answered in the DW forum. Sorry for the mix-up.

That's because the text is breaking the table the buttons are in. The
solution is to export the navbar as a separate table. There are a couple
of ways to handle this. Let's say you have created a typical left side,
    vertical navbar.

If you have completed a complete page layout in Fireworks, then use the
Export Area tool (Press and hold on the Crop tool to find it) to select
the navbar. Even though you are selecting only part of the page with it,
the HTML and JavaScript for the buttons will be exported with them. Once
the navbar is exported this way, import it into the first column of a
two column table in Dreamweaver. Or add it to the page by itself, and
then add a table for your content. The table will be added below the
navbar, but as soon as you select the table tag for the navbar and
change its alignment to Left in the Property inspector, the content
table will spring up next to it.

    Thanks Linda,

You were right, the buttons don't change when they are in their own table.

I still don't understand why it looked ok on my computer and not on anyone else's.
